National Basketball Association is a leading expert men’s basketball league in USA. It consists of total thirty teams with twenty-nine in U.S. and remaining one in the Canada. NBA actively participates in USA Basketball that is accredited by International Basketball Federation, as being a governing body for the sport of basketball in US. The NBA stands one among the major four basketball leagues in the North American league of professional sport. The NBA was constituted in the city of New York, in the year 1946 as BAA (Basketball Association of America). In the year 1949, the league acquired name of National Basketball Association subsequent to amalgamation with National Basketball League its rival.
History of NBA:
The history of National Basketball Association can be traced back to the year 1946, when the Basketball Association of America established. Nevertheless, there were some attempts in those times for setting professional basketball leagues such as the National Basketball League and American Basketball League. But, first attempt in playing in big major cities was done by the BAA and on 3rd August, 1949, the merger between BAA and NBL was done and hence, the NBA expansion to almost seventeen franchises was achieved. The year 1960 saw the strengthening of NBA in a great way with more franchises. But, the year 1967 was a threat to NBA, as it got stern competition from American Basketball Association. Around the year 1970, American Basketball Association was successful in getting the major stars for their teams. Currently, NBA has in totality 30 franchises and is evolving as a premier league in entire globe.

The NBA teams, regularly holds training camps during October, where coaching staff assess the player’s strengths and weakness and train players for stringent game season. During such session, the determination of 12 man selection takes place alongwith the 3 people in active list.
